Previously I gave this salon a 1 star rating, but I've come to change it to a 5, and here's why...
I requested a hairstyle that requires a lot of work and maintenance. It is a fantastic rendition to the cut I requested with adjustments that made it functional and livable.
My stylist, Yanee, was very sweet and giggly, which I thought was adorable, and she has this awesome punk rawk hairstyle.
The other people that worked there were really cool and personable and professional. The other people I saw that left, left with fantastic hairstyles with personality and attitude.
I'm just one of those neurotic people who always hates a haircut within the first few days, but now, I LOVE IT as much as I thought I did when I saw her cutting it.
AWESOME, unique and sweet.
We all need a decent hair experience.

Gary is amazing!!!!
I walked in to get a bang trim and he made my bangs looks so pretty that I came back for a haircut and I love it. I used to have to style my hair before all the time, but he shaped my hair so that even if I wash and go to work it still looks awesome. Everyone is very nice and good atmosphere. Highly recommend Vous!!!

OMG!
LAWD! So I never thought I'd ever be caught dead in Melrose getting my haircut, I usually thought everyone there was a snooty asshole.
I was pleasantly surprised to know that, wow, the people when I walked in were actually really cool. :D Very sweet, and were very nice to me.
I got my hair cut and styled by James, omg he is awesome! Seriously! Fun to work with, and he mentioned he does coloring as well...All the fun FUNKY COLORS! AHHHHHHHH! :D
and Normal colors too.
I am really happy with my hair, and I loved how volumed it became after the layers. :D good stuff. and I am def going back. :D

LeAnna is the sweetest AND she fixed my horrible bangs! This place is not too pricey and the atmosphere is really neat. They have parking behind the salon now which is a plus since Melrose you can never find parking.

I have been getting my haircut from Yanee at Vous Hair for about 8 years. I get complements all the time. It come from Santa Monica, a city that has a hair salon almost every block. It is worth the 45 minute drive in congested traffic. Yanee is the best! And, my goodness, what an amazing head/neck massage!

I've been going to Yanee for a couple years now and she's the best! My haircuts are always great, and if she has time to give you one of her famous scalp massages, you'll want to go get your hair cut ever day! And the hours are great for those of us who work late...or sleep late -- where else can you get a haircut at 8:00 at night? And last, but not least, Yanee's lotsa fun to talk to.
Once Yahnee cuts/colors, you'll never go anywhere else!

My husband and I have both gone to Yahnee for years (literally) for all of our hairstyling needs. Not only can she give you EXACTLY the cut you want, but she can add the best highlights, lowlights, and base color you could ever imagine. Add to that the fact that her prices are reasonable and the salon is funky, punky, and friendly. If you are sick to death of insane prices and snotty attitude in L.A. area salons, this is THE place for you. Bring in a photo of what you want, and you'll get it, with none of the resentment of some stylists. (That "I know better than you do" routine.) Give Vous a try, you'll be happy you did.

I've been going to Jaz for haircuts for about a year. Jaz knows hair and she does a great job! She even cut and styled my mom's hair when she was in town visiting. My mom is about 50 and I was worried that Jaz might be too hip for my mom's conservative liking. Jaz did a wonderful job. My dad, who hardly ever gives compliments, even said the haircut was great! Jaz is a rare find. She gives me the best haircuts ever. Super creative and lovely person all around. I've recommended her to many of my friends and even my boss who will be going in for her first haircut with Jaz within the next week or so. Jaz will rock your hair! She deserves an assistant.

Amazing place! I came here after having been in LA for four years and never finding the right salon. After a disastrous experience at Sigal Giavani in Westwood, I came to Vous and they were able to both fix and blend the poor color job I had received, as well as begin the restoration of my hair to its natural texture. Angel was INCREDIBLE (she's also done my eyebrows) and makes me feel comfortable, confident in what she is doing, and I would trust her with any new style I wanted! She is the only stylist I will be seeing from now on!

I'll give it to you straight: I am obsessed with Vous. It's everything I want in a salon. The stylists there are the real deal: sincere, talented, and genuine. They give you a great cut/style without all the LA pretentiousness. And they make every effort to see you right away. Moreover, the stylists really listen to what you want, offer suggestions, and give you a cut that makes you look better than you ever thought you could. Color is their specialty, whether you want some show-stealing new hue or just natural-looking highlights. And as if that weren't enough, when they wash your hair, they give the BEST (I mean absolutely other-worldly) head massages you will ever experience . Honestly, I'd go there just to get my scalp scintillated with great-smelling conditioner and a strong-fingered head rub; but thankfully it's all included in every haircut/color process.
Funny, but now that I am a regular, I discovered that almost everyone I know already goes there. We all agree that the talent of the stylists (especially the owner, Yanni) and the quality of their work is unmatched. Trust me, most likely the people you know with the best haircuts probably get their hair done at Vous.

On my endless search for a hairstylist, I went here on good recommendation from a friend of mine. I went to see Yanee, the owner. She may not be too talkative, but she knows her shit. I brought in a picture and she emulated the cut very well.. going back and forth and looking at it for reference.
it didnt even grow out hideous or anything. thumbs up for her.
Ive also tried 2 other stylists at the salon, and although they were all very nice and personable and did a decent job, yanee is the only one ive been satisfied with in terms of my hair growing out.
the atmosphere is laid back and not pretentious at all.. typical melrose crowd but very pleasant and enjoy their work. i'd go back if i hadnt already found somewhere near me in OC who's fantastic and local.. (see review on The Spot).

I've been going here for years to see Gary. I'm not the type of guy who would go to a salon to get a haircut but I feel very comfortable here. There is always some good music playing, the people are nice and I always leave with a great haircut. I love the fact that I can usually get an appointment the next day or even the same day. They always have parking right in back.

It's been a while since my last trip to Vous, and trust me, it shows.
I just made an appointment for this coming Sunday and I will edit this reviewonce my memory is refreshed with the details of why I love this place so much.
However, I wanted to put it in writing as soon as I could that I go to James and I think he is nicest, most professional stylist I've ever gone to. That is of course, in addition to the immense talent he has with those scissors.
I heart him and was just sad that no one else mentioned him here.
**EDIT**
Welp, Yelp, I was right, james can do no wrong. My only complaint, boy takes 2 hours to trim hair. no joke. But I heart him and his puppy and his lovely receptionist of a girlfriend (Leanna?) all the same.
